Bio
Freaky Bizness
Freaky Bizness is a 7 piece band based in Townsville, Australia. It features a big horn section, vocal harmonies, catchy tunes and driving beats. Writing and performing their own material has been the main impetus keeping the group going but they have added an equally esteemed list of covers. If you love Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Fat Freddy's Drop, Bullhorn & Cat Empire then you'll love Freaky Bizness.
Freaky Bizness formed in 2012 and has been playing venues around north Queensland ever since. Having refined it's repertoire the band is now performing a more diverse range of gigs. It is a regular at the Townsville Folk Festival (formerly Palm Creek Folk Festival) and at venues such as the Otherwise Bar, Commonwealth Hotel, Warehouse, Herbert Hotel and more.
The horn section has remained rock-steady since the start featuring Nick Emtage (trumpet & lead vocals), Richard Brinkman (trombone) and Nick Matthews (tenor sax and bari sax). Kameron Christopher (alto sax) has added a new dimension with tight arrangements and harmonies. Original song inspiration is generated by Nick Emtage or Dave Williamson (lead guitar, ukelele & vocals). The rhythm section is rounded out by the expert Mike Emslie (bass & vocals) and the eminently skilled Joel Wilson (drums & vocals).
Freaky Bizness is excited to launch its debut album "Just around the corner" in October 2026 as part of NAFA. This follows on from its debut EP (Everybody's Bizness, 2014) with some of the songs included on the website.
